PS3 Flash Card Reader - What's the purpose of it?

What's the purpose of the optional PS3 flash card reader?

PS3 Flash Card Reader - What's the purpose of it?
The Flash Card readers on the 60GB and 80GB PS3 are for transferring data from a device that uses a flash card (PSP, Digital Camera) to the PS3.

The Flash Card readers that the PS3 supports are: SD Memory Cards, Memory Stick Duo, and CF Flash.
Reply:Ok. You know how PS2 used memory sticks? Since the PS3 has an HDD, you can't take your game saves with you when you go to a friends house or something. This way, you can copy your save onto a flash drive, and use it that way. Also, you can transfer video, music, and photos through the memory cards.
Reply:What are you talking about??
Reply:I wondered that too ! When the PS3 first launched, I didn't know if Sony was trying to sell a video game console or a PC ! Some of the features were truly stupid ! I'd rather have the "Emotion Engine" for BC than a media card reader !
