Effectivity of flash cards to preschool?

Children need to interact with something for them to really learn it. They are in the "little scientist" stage where they can spend hours on the playground looking at ladybugs.

The best way to teach letters and numbers is through play. Let them play with magnetic letters, or show them how to make the letters of their name with playdough. Have them write their name in shaving cream. Write their name for them in glue and have them put glitter on it. It will be more concrete for them if they can touch it.

Effectivity of flash cards to preschool?
not for preschoolers. young children need to be actively involved in everything. the first five years of life are the most crucial and we need to start building inside that little brain of theirs. Flash cards doesn't teach them anything, except how to memorize. Let them be involved. Math, play shoe store with prices on shoe boxes. Make learning shapes fun, like using children to form a circle, or having four kids lie on the floor to make a square. Have print everywhere and discuss it often. It they have some letter sound concepts have them kid spell for you( let them spell words that they can hear letters in but ,don't tell them they spelled it wrong).Look up the ooeygooey lady!
Reply:my students like it when i use flash cards. i think it's effective since they show interest in the cards and recall the letters/numbers on it :)
Reply:i use flash cards for my one year old class and they are developing so well. They know most of your everyday sights like car bike etc. it also taught them the different sounds that the things around them make. another good idea is sign launguge. Show them a picture and them the sign. It works really well for children how haven't began talking yet or who have speech problems.
