So you can update the software. I have had to flash mine twice to fix software bugs. They can also update the maps.
Does a Garmin GPS for a car need a data card/flash memory? What is the purpopse of these data cards?
Depends on the device...some use cards some do not. All have some level of built in memory...the cards provide additional memory room for better/broader maps. Report Abuse
Reply:With mine it came with "base maps" loaded, for details such as street address and POE I had to load with a supplyed card that i could down load any imfo on any state
