P.S I'm studying subjects like biology,physiology,cytology...etc

How to study effectively using flash cards?
You should write the key facts in each chapter or topic. You should include the very important details that will make you remember what the topic is about. Just include the main message that the topic is stating.
Reply:Flash cards work great, they best and most important thing about flash cards is that you use them frequently. If your walking down the street, have a couple minutes before/after class. The only way to truly remember something is with repetition. Don't just have one night to cram with flash cards, make them a week or so in advance and 5 minutes here and there throughout the day can make a great deal of improvement.
Reply:write the definition on the back and the word on the front-- and for oher things do the things you dont know like difficult things as question, then the answer on the back. good luck
Reply:Read the subject then create a question from what you read write it on the card on one side and answer it on the other side. You can also draw a line down the middle of a page on one side and answer it on the other, keep the answer side covered. When it comes to taking the tests you might remember the questions and the answers might come automatically.
Reply:If you have a study guide, put each question from the study guide on it with the answer on the back. If you don't have a study guide, try to think of the things the teacher/professor would want you to get out of the chapter/section. What should you have learned? Start making flash card with easy questions and work your way to the hard ones. Look at them everyday and make piles if the ones you get right and a pile of ones you took too long to answer or didn't get right. Have a friend quiz you. The bast way I found I learned about something was teaching it/telling it to somebody else, because that means I had learned it. Most important of all, don't stay up late to cram, because you need a good night's rest for your brain to let the stuff you studied to process and remember. That's why you should take more than a day to study them. Good luck!!!
Reply:Question on one side-answer on the back OR Topic on one side- details on the back . Keep them with you so pull them out any time anywhere. This helps me with my spanish class.
Reply:write general points, or questions u don't know the answers to. also good for formula's and mind joggers
Reply:I cant help you on flash cards, but if you are in transit for a while (catch the bus, peak hour traffic to your college/university/job/ whatnot) and you have an MP3 player, its a good idea to make a voice recording of central topics, ideas that get you thinking , things worth remembering, etcetera

so if it takes ages, you can do something

try study guides

sorry I couldnt help with the flash cards

goodluck in ur exams......wish me too......

How much do FLASH CARDS help memorize things?

Memorizing with flash cards is gonna help me memorize faster? If so, how much faster?

thanks in advance

How much do FLASH CARDS help memorize things?
The role of repetition is the most important thing to remember: when you repeat something, you will move that information from your short term memory to long term.

By creating flashcards (and I mean YOU creating them by handwritten means), you are copying information, reading it, and then - if done correctly - reciting the information over and over. Once you "know" what is on the other side of the card, you are simply reviewing and repeating that memory of your knowledge. If this is done well in advance of a test, preferably as you get the information - you potentially could remember the information for years.

You don't have to have flashcards to memorize, but it certainly helps if you are a visual or tactile (hands-on) type of learner. If not, record the information and upload it to your ipod or mp3 and listen to it over %26amp; over.
Reply:Anything that gets your brains attention will help with memorization. That might be flashcards, rhymes, riddles, stories, etc.

Are some compact flash cards faster than others?

Ok, my question is you know how when you take a picture with a digital camera, and then you have to sit there for about 5 seconds before you can take another pic.

I want to be able to fire off about 3 or 4 in a row. Can I just by a compact flash memory card with a faster read or write time or whatever.

Are some compact flash cards faster than others?
Unfortunately, it isn't just the card that decides read/write times. The cameras' interface to the card is equally important. I bought the Sandisk Extreme III CF card because my camera supports the improved throughput.

Not knowing your camera brand or type makes it impossible to recommend a card for you. If your cameras' performance isn't affected by the card speed, buying a high end card might not be effective..
Reply:As Bob says, card speed is only one factor.

Start by turning off your monitor. If the camera only needs to write to the card and not the monitor, it will be a faster process.

If your camera has a "sport" mode, this will also work faster.

If you have "continuous shooting," use that and just bang of 3 or 4 frames instead of 15-20.

Which company's flash cards do you recommend for building SAT Vocabulary?

I'm thinking about companies like Barron's, Sparknotes (the one with 1000 flash cards), Kaplan, Princeton, etc.

Personal experience would be great because I know some sets of flash cards never have their words in the SATs.

Which company's flash cards do you recommend for building SAT Vocabulary?
Princeton Review is good. Kaplan is good.

Also, there's a website I used that has online flashcards--makes studying a little more fun:

What are some fun ways to study using flash cards?

I am helping someone study tonight for an exam and he is using flash cards. Any ideas how we can make this fun? If this matters, he is studying for bartending and needs to memorize 160 drinks by Sunday

What are some fun ways to study using flash cards?
a lot of mixed drinks have gin as a base . colour code some of the cards so he can get past those non-gin drinks

and for memory helpers, put a bit of clip art on the cards that relate to the drink name. That may help to relate to the drink more

Are the Flash Cards and the Final Review CD Useful in the Becker CPA Review?

Hi Guys, I'm enrolling in the Becker CPA Review. The cost of the Review is covered by my Company but not add-ons like the flash cards and the final review CD. I am doing self study CD. Do you think it would be a good idea to purchase the flash cards and the final review CD as well? They are kind of pricey for a poor student especially the final review, but I willing to buy if they are actually useful.

Are the Flash Cards and the Final Review CD Useful in the Becker CPA Review?
I took Becker live courses. The CD's you get will be exactly the same as the CD's we watched in class. You will also get the same books and passmaster software as we got in class. All that is more than enough to pass the exam! If you study what they tell you to study in the lectures, do the "required homework" (really no need to do the "supplemental HW"), all the sims, and at take at least one of the practice exams, you will be golden. Do not waste money on the final review CD.

I also bought the flashcards. They really aren't that great. I had to write all over the Becker flashcards I used b/c many of them did not make sense. I even set some of Becker's FC's aside - they were useless. I made MANY MANY flashcards of my own while studying - I think you learn a lot better if you make your own. Just the act of writing the info down will make it stick :)

Good luck!
Reply:The Becker flashcards are not very detailed. I'm obviously not an objective party, but that is my opinion. Good luck on the exam!
Reply:Don't waste your money on the final review. I used the Becker program (live classes) and even our instructors said that the final review was not necessary (or worth the money). Simply stick to the Becker program, do the homework, and put in the study time and you should be fine. By the way, there is no difference between the live class and the CDs. All we did at the live classes was watch the CDs!

I do know some people that have used and liked the flashcards, but that really depends on how you are used to studying. I did not use them and passed all four sections on my first try. If you are used to studying with flashcards, they may be worth the money. If you have not studied that way in the past, forget them.

Good Luck!

What is the quickest way to memorize 100 flash cards?

They're just regular flash cards

What is the quickest way to memorize 100 flash cards?
Do 10 at a time for 5 minutes. Say them each out loud as you see them. Change the order and do them again for 5 minutes.

Do this ten times and then do 20 cards at a time the same way you did 10.

Keep adding 10 cards until you have 100.

This should work in about 2 -3 days time if you do it consistently.
Reply:Keep going through them, over and over. Read them outload (you'll have the memory of reading, saying, and hearing).

As soon as you memorize one, remove it from the stack. Keep going through until you've taken them all out.
Reply:it is said that after seeing a given item 14 times, the brain has memerized it.

What's the difference between "secure digital" and "secure digital flash" cards?

I'm looking for an SD memory card and see that some are called "Secure digital" and others are called "Secure digital flash." What's the difference? Are they interchangeable in my devices that use SD cards?

What's the difference between "secure digital" and "secure digital flash" cards?
They are the same thing. Secure Digital (SD) is trademarked so any card with the SD logo will work with SD devices. The link below takes you to the association.
Reply:Same thing. Technically, "flash" media stores data on a printed circuit board (as opposed to disk media), but if the card has an SD logo on it, it should work in SD devices. The term "Flash" has no laws behind it's use, so it's probably just a marketing term slapped on the package to make you think it's better/faster/less likely to not work/etc.

What are the legal rights behind making flash cards from textbooks and then selling them to other students?

I was thinking about making flash cards of vocabulary words on my computer and then selling the flash cards to other students.

What are the legal rights behind making flash cards from textbooks and then selling them to other students?
Depends on the scale. If you're just selling to a few students and barely getting enough to cover the overhead, nobody is going to care. If you go multi-campus and are making enough of a profit to live off of then you might have somebody crying foul
Reply:Check your school's policy. (If you are a teacher, you can't sell anything to students at my school)

Where can i buy communication flash cards for a toddler?

My son is behind on his speech and we use communication flash cards with his therapist to help him. They are pictures on a card exp: ball, car, milk, snack, bath and he pick one off a board to tell us what he wants. Looking mostly for a web site i could order something like this from. I don't have a program either to do this so if you know of a good one that would help to.

Where can i buy communication flash cards for a toddler?
Go Through Magazines and cut out pictures, or take pictures of your son doing those things. Paste them on 3"x5" cards, and put magnets on the back for the fridge, esp. for foods. At our local Headstart, we make books showing a child doing the 'right things' - sharing, helping, being nice with the books and toys, raising his hand- a little off the subject, but the children love to look at pictures of themselves.

This can be a fun activity to do together. "Help me find a CAR" or "This dog looks like Fluffy" You get the idea.

I also Love http://first-school.ws/. They have all sorts of printables and downloads. For as little a $8, you can access daycareresource.com, which has all sorts of activities for young children. Of Course, there's always E-bay for flashcards and games. Good Luck and God Bless.
Reply:I bought some for my 4 year old at Barnes %26amp; Nobles if you don't have one in your area you could check for a web site and see about ordering them from there. The ones that I bought were really good and very well priced
Reply:make your own if you cant find any
Reply:Look in like K-Mart or Walmart . I have bought some there. Or maybe make some of your own that way there can be the picture and word recognition

Reply:I have found that you can usually find children's flash cards at teacher supply stores such as office max or office depot. just take a look around in the teacher's section and you're sure to find them!
Reply:We got some number and alphabet flash cards as well as a gofish game at our local dollar store. Loads of cool stuff.

Flash cards?

everyone told me that i should make flash cards for my science classes and, of course, i ignored them. Two years later, i think they might actually be helpful.

Can someone suggest ways to make flash cards (format? i guess) for biology, chemistry, and/or physics?

help would be much appreciated.

Flash cards?
Well its pretty easy..flash cards can be very annoying and a lot of people think of them as not useful, but in reality, they really do work if you spend time on them.

To make them, say you have a word and its definition that you need to memorize. Write the word on one side of an index card, and the definition on the other side.

Or if you have a question and answer you need to memorize, have the question on one side, and answer on the other. Its pretty simple, just work on it :]
Reply:If you need specific questions and answers type

info, making them yourself will be the best.

Check with Art supply store. If u have computer,u can try making the cards with the printer. Or a pro print shop/copier store.

If you only need general info. some college book

stores may have general info cards on various subjects.
Reply:Flash cards stimulate recognition by sight, and continued use over time trains your mind to actually recognize what is on each card wherever you encounter them.

If you're interested in formulas and reactions more than definitions, then go through your texts and pick out 50 or so topics from each subject. It will be helpful if you choose difficult topics -- because obviously you will have to research the answers if they are not already given.

Once you have collected your topics, go grab a set of index cards and write down your chosen ones with the answer at the back. I find 3x5in cards to be the best. Make sure your question side is fairly simple to recognize at a glance. For example,

(Side 1) Chemistry - Reactions

2KCl + PbSO4 --%26gt; ?

(Side 2) Chemistry - Reactions

? --%26gt; PbCl2 + K2SO4

This way you are able to utilize both side of the cards and each becomes double useful.

A few other examples:

(Side 1) Biology - Photosynthesis

CO2 + Water + Sunlight forms ??

(Side 2) Biology - Photosynthesis

?? forms Glucose + O2

Using a bold wedge marker to make displays clear and crisp. And don't doodle on your cards.

If you need more questions you can't find in your texts, go to the libe and check out the Schaum's Outline series on your subjects.

Have fun!
